Dating a workmate can be very exciting, especially when the other workmates do not know about your relationship. However,
work dating requires you being very cautious. Gossip can ruin not only your relationship, but also your professional career.
You have to set priorities. If your company does not allow dating among workers, think about what is more important for you. Unless you are truly in
love, do not risk your position.
Things to Beware of When Dating a Single Co-Worker
For couples who work close together and one has a higher position over the other, authority conflicts can be a problem in two ways. The first one is that your dating partner may feel that they possess certain benefits above other employees. The other issue would be if one partner actually receives benefits above other employees. It could cause resentment and conflict among the group.
Couples dating may experience competitiveness especially if they posses the same position in a competitive field such as real-estate, or stock market where you are supposed to do your best to get more money. Without having a girl/boyfriend working with you, this can be a problem, but it is even more of an emotional issue when it is.
Be available. You may think that one of your
matchmaking pluses is the fact that you have this incredible job that takes up lots of time, but your dating partner won't think so. While this may be a good way to attract them in the beginning they will get tired of your bust schedule and give up quickly.
Don't judge so quickly. Hanging out for 1 or two hours does not mean that you could say whether this person is good or bad for you. Just because a dating partner may not have his/her best foot forward on the first date, doesn't mean they should be tossed aside. It works the other way too. Just because they have completely dazzled you on the first date it doesn't mean they are that exciting. Be sure to give it two or three dates to really make a decision.
