BRIDE TO WED A MAN SHE'S NEVER MET

A woman from Bristol, England is planning to marry a man from Maimi, USA that she has never met after falling in love on the Internet.

Senny Idrus, aged 29, who lives in the UK, says she fell for Michael Sperber, who lives in America, after talking to him through UK-based online dating service Singlescrowd. com.

The firm says the romance between Sunny, a waitress, who lives in Bristol, UK, and accountant Michael, who lives in Miami, Florida, is the first among its clients to lead to wedding plans.

Up until now the pair have just exchanged photographs and spoken on the phone, but Sunny has liked what she has seen and heard from 39-year-old Michael.

The couple have discussed marriage online and he is set to pop the question in person when he visits Bristol in September.

The couple found each other through Singlescrowd.com in May and started talking over the Internet about twice a week.

A month later they exchanged pictures and began to talk regularly on the telephone.

Senny said: "A friend told me about the website.

"They said I might find someone I could chat with and become friends.

"I was looking for friendship and I found someone I wanted to marry."

Senny will go to America with Michael for three weeks after his visit to England.

She said: "I am very excited.

"Michael is very kind and caring and we got on straight away.

"If I hadn't used the site I would never have met him."

Singlescrowd. com started operating in December 2000 and although the firm says it has had e-mails from users asking to be taken off the site because they have started relationships with people who have read their profiles, Sunny is the first to become engaged.

Managing director Robert Fathers admits Internet relationships don't tend to follow conventional patterns.

He believes barriers are broken down much more quickly because people have fewer insecurities when they do not meet face to face.

People who sign up at the site set up their own personal pages to post their photographs and personal details, which can be browsed by other members and visitors looking for a match.

So far the company has members from as far away as Kathmandu with 15,000 people joining each month.

Mr Fathers said:

"We're thrilled for Senny and Michael and wish them every future happiness."
